Client has to provide extra copy of document, since one copy of the document is kept at the Consular Section at the Embassy in Ottawa. Power of attorney, authorization or statement, has to be written in Serbian language. Client has to provide following information about the person he/she is authorizing: - First & last name and address - Number of personal identification card, place and date of issuance and validity - Personal Identification Number of citizens (JMBG- consists of 13 numerals, located next to the photograph inside the personal identification card) - Nature of the legal matter for which the document is being notarized
Client should include his/her name, address in Canada, ID number (passport, personal identification card, or identification document used) underneath the signature.
Procedure for Notarization: 1. The person giving power of attorney, authorization or statement, who does not posses a valid Serbian passport, has to notarize his/her document at the office of notary public who is authorized by the Embassy, and then send the document to the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia to be notarized by the Consular Section at the Embassy.
2. The person giving power of attorney, authorization or statement can notarize their document at the office of notary public who is not authorized by the Embassy. In this case document need to be sent to the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada in Ottawa(Authentication and Service of Documents Section (JLAC) - DFAIT, 125 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, ON, K1A 0G2, tel. (613) 995-0119 ) for legalization. After legalization, client has to send document to the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia to be notarized by the consular department.
Fee for notarization of one copy of document is $63.50 CAD, for second copy is $31.50 CAD, and every subsequent copy is $18.50 CAD. Payment has to be made by cash, «Certified Cheque» (not personal) or «Money Order» for the amount specified. Cheques and Money Orders have to be made out to the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia. Along with the document client has to send a postage paid return envelope, addressed to the address of client. Power of Attorney, authorization and Statements
Notarization of signature on private documents (power of attorney, authorization or statement) is done at the Consular Section of the Embassy of Serbia in Ottawa based on a valid Serbian passport or personal identification card; power of attorney, authorization or statement has to be signed in the presence of the Consular Officer who subsequently notarizes the signature on such a document. |
